Review: Gel Pens

Gel pens 100 of them is that enough?  Most likely no you can never have enough.  Michaels sells a cylinder off 100 gel pens that include neon, metallic, regular and glitter pens.  Its $50 but you can use your 40% and 50%  discount.

Costco also sells 100 Gel pens for about $20 which come out in August which are great too.

Coloring Brings Back Memories

I have always loved coloring.  When I was a child I remember browsing at the Sears Catalog toy section.  They had so many toys that my sister and I would sit for hours looking and marking the toys we wanted for christmas.  I always asked for colored pencils especially the sets in box also a pad.  I would always get a coloring book in my stocking.  Those were the best christmas' for me.  Below are a couple of catalogs and pencil set that I am not sure how old this brand is....

Review: Kohinoor Woodless Pencils

These pencils come in 12 and 24 piece box.  They come in plastic sturdy tray great for storing.  They are made without the outside wood.  It has beautiful colors and its smooth when you use them.   Pencils have a long lasting point and stay sharp longer then the other wood pencils.  They are economical about $25 a box.

Review: Kaiser Colour Gel Pens

This boxed Kaiser Colour set of gel pens come in a 24 pack. Twelve are neon pens and the other twelve are glitter pens.  They are very fine point, great for the tiny lines and spaces.  I looked all over the plastic box that it comes in to find size of point but nowhere to be found but I can guess that it is around 0.3cm.
I really enjoy using these pens, they glide smoothly especially the glitter ones.  I wish they had more variety of colors.  I would love to see the glitter pens sold separately.

Review: Crayola Colored Pencils

This review is of the most inexpensive good quality pencils Crayola.  These pencils were the first pencils I owned before I branched out for other brands.  Let me say that the colors are vibrant and they have from 12 piece to 462 pieces ranging in price from $2 to $70 respectfully.  They color smooth but do not blend well. I love that they have fun names for every color in their collection. They are made for children but great for someone who wants to try coloring for first time.  I personally love them.  You can get them anywhere.  Here are a few pictures.

Review: Steampunk Coloring Book

This inexpensive coloring book made by Creative Haven has some awesome drawings in a steampunk style.  The quality of the paper is very good considering that you can purchase book for about $6 to $8 dollars depending where you buy it.  It has about 30 pages of beautiful drawings.   They sell many different themes.  So there is plenty for everyone.  I have not colored a page in this book yet because I want to get better at shading to do so.  Take a peek at a page from book .

Review: Blending and Burnisher Pencils

This review is for blending pencils and burnishing pencils.   Blending pencils are a colorless pencil that you would rub on already colored areas.  It helps in blending the colors together and softens the area without using mineral oil or baby oil.  I have used two brands Derwent and Prismacolor pencils.

Derwent Colorless pencils work nicely.  Pencil come in a pack of two and you can also get it with two burnisher pencils, price is about $10 to $15 for the four pencils somewhat.   They have a chalky consistency when being used.  What I don't like is that it lets go of a lot of powdery chalky residue that will stain your page.  If that happens you would need to use your eraser and erase the area to try to clean it as best as you can.  I am using a small brush that is for cleaning cameras and the mess is minimal.

Prismacolor Colorless pencils is a blending pencil that comes is a pack of two.  The price range is about $10 or less, shop around.  Now I like this pencil better then the Derwent because its less messy.  It works the same and its less waste.

Burnisher Colorless pencils is a blending pencils that gives a subtle shine to the surface of your paper. You can use it before or after the page is colored.  If you use it before it will prevent you from coloring in the area you used the burnisher pencil even if you color over that area with a colored pencils.  If you use it after it gives it a shine to your work as a wrote above.  You use over the area then rub your thumb or finger over it and it will bring the shine.  I like to use it on my fish or bird pages.  I can only tell you about one brand because I have not seen any other company  who sell it.

Derwent Burnisher Colorless pencil works great on all your pages.  It is not messy like the blending pencil.   It comes in packs of two or accompanied with blending pencils see above.

Review: Lost Ocean Coloring Book

This book is packed with beautiful drawings created by Johanna Basford she is well known in the
adult coloring world for her 1st book Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest which I will review later in my blog.  There is fun drawings of many under water creatures and many mandala type creations too.  The book is packed with gorgeous animals to color.  The book is well made and of great quality.  The paper is of card stock thickness so there is no bleeding through paper.  It is around 9x8 in size and has  at least 70 pages of goodness.  Also all her books include a 4 page poster spread of an awesome drawing at the back of book that you can remove and frame.   I have included pages that I have colored throughout my blog of this book.  Hope this helps in your decision of purchasing.

Review: Pencil Cases

I have 3 types of pencil cases I want to share with you today.  Hope this review will help in your choice of pencil cases.

The 1st case is a wrap around pencil case.  It has its negative and positives which I will mention here.    You can get this case in Amazon and Ebay, I have not seen it in any store as of yet.  It is made of sturdy canvas and in many pretty prints or solid fabric.   It can hold from 36 to 72 pencils.  Pencils are stored individually and it folds at bottom so they won't fall out.  There is a sturdy rope that ties it nicely. I tried storing my pens but it would not roll nicely, I guess that is why its a pencil case lol.   It fits nicely in a purse or luggage.  They have them at a good price.   They come from China.

This next pencil case you can purchase in Hobby Lobby.  It is nice and sturdy made of a denim material.  It closes with zipper which I like. There are a few things I did not like first the pencils are not stored individually, the tabs are wide to where you can stick 3 pencils or 2 pens in each tab.  The other thing I did not like was that it said that it holds 120 pencils and that was not the case. I was only able to hold about 75.  I am using it to hold my glitter gel pens I don't have many of those.

Third case is my favorite.  You can purchase through Ebay (Deluxe PU leather pencil case) for about 25 dollars or less depending on size.  It has a lot of the things I wanted in a case.  There are a few different sizes that hold from 36 to 120 pencils.  You can store pencils or pens nicely and are stored individually.  It has room for eraser or other accessories.  It has 3 dividers (120) and it closes with zippers.  It is made of imitation leather which they have a variation of colors.  I bought a hot pink and a gray one.  Below is a photo of the one that holds 120 pieces.

Review: Mandala Coloring Books

This review is about Mandala Coloring Books I own.  I love this book it is full of beautiful intricate mandalas.  Most of all my completed mandala pages are from this book.  See previous post.
The book is of great quality paper, thick enough that it won't bleed through regardless what you use gel pens, markers or pencils.  Its 9x8 and has over 90 pages of gorgeous mandalas.

This other book is of the same quality as of the book above.  The lines of the drawings is thinner and smaller detail.  It is the same size.  Has about the same amount of pages.
